Claudine Bonner, Ph.D.,
Canada Research Chair, She/Her
Dr. Bonner is the Canada Research Chair in Racial Justice & African Diaspora Migration, and an Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology at Mount Allison University. She is passionate about Black Canadian History, social justice issues, and mentoring students who share an interest for this emerging field of research.
As a social scientist and historian, she focuses on bringing to light multiple spans of Canadian Black narratives and realities that have been ignored or whitewashed over the years.
A highly collaborative scholar, consultant and community advisor, Dr. Bonner thrives in contributing to initiatives that put Black lives at the heart of social change, where they rightfully belong.
Teaching and supervising students is one of Dr. Bonner's passions. Empowering the next generation of scholars to delve deeper into our shared histories and to uncover new insights is one area where she finds joy, inspiration and kinship.
Dr. Bonner is a prolific and collaborative contributor to many publications in the areas of Black diaspora, Black Canadian history, and race and gender studies in Canada.
